Editing Progress #1

Image
Today I have started to edit my individual edit for the Lost Time Production. We begun editing last week but due to the current COVID-19 virus, college has closed indefinitely. I can still edit but I am missing scenes as they are on the college computers. Although I have edited together the clips i have edited. This screenshot is my layout of bins in my   premiere pro project. I know where all my footage is and my dialogue as well as what scene they are in.  This screenshot is when I finished editing Act 2 Scene 2 without the flashback scene  Throughout the footage, our director was walking past the camera. I wanted to use that shot so I got a reference photo of when our actor was not in shot and the full arcade background was in shot. I took a screenshot and used that as a mask to remove the director from the scene. This screenshot is when I completed the flashback scene in act 2 scene 2  This screenshot is when I finished the reality scene.

Logging Act 2 Scene 2 & 3 Footage

Today I have completed logging for Act 2 Scene 2 & 3's footage. The logging sheets have to been saved to my production folder. All the logging sheets contain what footage is good, what they contain and how long they are.

Logging Act 1 Footage and Audio

The footage and audio for the entirety of Act 1 has been logged and an EDL has been created for the project. Now the footage has been logged and an EDL has been created, the footage and audio can be imported into Premiere Pro ready to start editing.

Lost Time Production Shoot #4 - 10/03/2020

Image
The 10th of March was our final shoot for the Lost Time production. This shoot is a re-shoot for Act 2 scene 1 as the shoot on Friday 28th February did not go as planned and we had many problems. We planned to film at 1PM and finish at 3:30PM. Since we were already at College we could start filming straight away. We begun filming at 1PM.  When dialogue was needed we faced another problem with recording audio with the TASCAM. The TASCAM can either take power for the DC adapter or 8xAA batteries. Because we were shooting outside, there was no options to use the DC adapter so we planned to get 16xAA batteries for the shoot and put 8xAA batteries into the TASCAM, although when I put the 8xAA batteries into the TASCAM, it would not turn on, swapped the batteries and it still would not turn on. We resorted into using the Panasonic to record dialogue. The Panasonic camera has an XLR port for the external microphone to record the dialogue on. All production

Today is the third production shoot day. We will film Act 2 scene 4 and Act 1 entirely today at Reece's House. On the risk assessment we planned to arrive at location to prepare and begin filming at 11:20am and finish filming at 3PM.  We arrived at the Location at 11:30 and begun to prepare for filming. We started filming Act 2 Scene 4 first so that one of the actors can leave early because she won't be needed for Act 1 filming. After we completed Act 2 Scene 4, we begun to prepare for Act 1 filming. The location for Act 1 is a bedroom where the main character Nathan will be in, writing in a Notebook, a seperate bedroom for our other character who will be making a CD for Nathan and an Attic where Nathan will be looking around in. We finished filming at 5PM, 2 hours later than we planned. The shoot is complete and one more shoot is required for the production which will take place on 10/03/2020.

Today is the second day for Lost Time productions shoot. We will be going to Ryde Arcadia and The Captains Table in Ryde to film Act 2 Scene 2 & 3. We have gained permission to film at the two locations and they have been risk assessed and we plan to record at 1PM. The weather for today is set to be sunny and clear of rain. Our first shoot was at The Captains Table to shoot Act 2 Scene 3 with Corey and Mollie. We arrived at 11:35pm and begun to setup the scene, we made sure that members of the public were aware that we will be filming at the location and we were not going to get them in frame. We begun filming at 12pm and we planned to finish and leave the location at 2PM. We finished filming and left the location at 1:30PM. Our final location for the shoot today was Ryde Arcadia to film the arcade scene Act 2 Scene 2. We planned to arrive at 2PM and leave at 4PM. We arrived at the location at 1:39pm and begun to film at 1:50pm. This location was a lot more quieter t

Pre-Production Update #3

02/03/2020 Over the past week, we have made some changes to our pre-production documents such as scripts, shot lists and locations. We have decided to change locations to Ryde Arcadia as we couldn't get a location agreement in time. The new location will be used in Act 2 for the arcade scene. We have also completed all our storyboards required and all our locations have been agreed on for tomorrows shoot. Today we will be gathering equipment and checking them to make sure it is all working and to make sure we have them secured for tomorrows shoot. We have been given the TASCAM to replace the ZOOM recorder as of the failure of the shoot on Friday 28th February. We have all been shown how to use the TASCAM and I will be using the TASCAM to record the audio for the rest of our production. We have planned to record Act 2 scene 2 and 3 (Cafe and Arcadia) tomorrow, Act 1 and Act 3 on Sunday 08/03/2020 and Act 2 scene 1 on 10/03/2020. After all these shoots are complete we will ha

Lost Time Production Shoot #1 - 28/02/2020

Our first production shoot for Lost time begins today. Today we plan to film Act 2 scene 1 which is the pickup scene in the production. The pickup scene is planned to be set at the college.  We planned to arrive at the college at 10AM and leave at 2PM. We arrived at the location but the weather on the day was not good as it was raining the entire time, making it harder for us to film while not getting any equipment damaged. As a result of the weather, we were struggling to get filming done. When dialogue was needed to be recorded, the ZOOM audio recorder was not loading the SD card in time and then would no longer turn on or off. So we had to use the Camera's microphone to record dialogue. We finished the shoot at 2PM as planned although the shoot did not go as planned although we planned to use the footage we filmed as the ending instead of Act 2 Scene 1.

Pre-Production Progress Update #2

Date: 25/02/2020 Since the last progress update (07/02/2020), we have made more progress with the production process.  Firstly, the scripts for all acts are complete. Now that the scripts are complete, storyboards are now being developed. The script was completed yesterday although storyboards were being developed using completed scenes in the script. As well as scripts, the shot list was completed today. Storyboards will also be completed later this week.  We have also secured two main actors that we'd need for the production. We have discussed with them the script and what days they are available on. Using this information, we have decided to begin filming on Friday 28th February 2020 to film Act 2 Scene 1. Locations are also being arranged for our production. The College is one of our locations which has been risk assessment, remote surveys have been created and now a location recce is our last document to be produced.

Pre-Production progress update #1

Date: 07/02/2020 Since our pitch on 27th January, we have made a lot of progress on our production. After our pitch, everyone in the group created an Individual Treatment. The Treatment is a short summary of key characters in the film, synopsis, crew and the three acts of the story.  Treatment  We have also begun to write our script for each act. Once we finish the first acts script, we can then begin with the storyboard and the shot list. The first act of the story is the introductions of the characters. As of now, the script for Act 1 is complete and the storyboard is being developed as well as the shot list. Tilly, who is the director of the production, also got into contact with potential talent. All talent have agreed to be apart of the production. We will create talent forms, talent profiles and figure out dates to which we can film on within the next few weeks. We have also created a production schedule, depicting when we plan to do each step of production (pre-producti

Start of Unit 22

Our production group has been formed and now we are beginning to plan and develop our idea for a short film. We started by thinking of what we could come up with regarding each genre that we could use. We first decided everyone's roles throughout the production, the roles are as specified: Producer - Amber Hersey Director - Tilly Jones Camera - Reece Dewey Sound - Adam Page Editor - INDIVIDUAL EDITS Everyone in the production group will have to edit the production as it is linked with Unit 16 (Video Editing Unit) After we decided on the roles, we then started to brainstorm ideas. We decided to go with a Mystery Thriller & Crime Drama short film and made a shared word document to develop our idea. We finished the day with a general idea and how we wanted to plan out our idea.  And now we have a pitch to present on the 27th January. The pitch is complete and ready to present. After our pitch has been approved, we can begin to create storyboards, shot lists,
